Damn I didn't even know you guys were still posting in here. I didn't see a yellow tag.
Jason is enjoying his last summer before his last school year. He got an internship over at Central Hotel. The same Central (company) that owns Central World, one of the largest and most prestigious malls in Thailand, which got torched when the Redshirts protest got outta hand or when the government took military action which ever way you want to look at it.
He is safe though, most of the protesting went on elsewhere in the city, and when shyt got down he didn't go near the city. When it was still peaceful, he'd pass the red and yellow shirt fellows all the time on his way to work and they didn't really bother him or other normal citizens. They just try to sell you their shirts and buy your support.
Before all this turmoil, he told me a pretty funny incident that happened at his internship. Jason lives with my grandmother, who is in a province south of Bangkok, so distance plus the horrible Bangkok traffic makes for a long ass morning and evening bus commute. So he's been getting very little sleep.
During lunch breaks he gets a solid hour, so he devised a simple plan. Devour lunch in a record 5 mins and take a sweet 55 minute nap. One day there was a mass email going from one of the managers with an attachment. It turned out it was a funny picture of Jason asleep on his desk with his mouth open, drooling. They manager wrote an email warning others not to sleep on the job.
Technically he wasn't sleeping on the job and he didn't really get in trouble, but the manager was just concerned that if they had inverters or guests rolling in it would not look good for the company. On the plus side, the big boss, the son of the owner of all Central malls and hotels, knows him by name and routinely jokes about it with him. Not bad eh?
Now that the government-protester "kids which have been dropped at the pool"-storm is over, he can get back to work. He plans on coming back soon though, when he graduates. Maybe he will come live with me and Laura or one of his friends who all miss him so dearly. hehe
On a side note, Thailand, a primarily tourist country, is economically fucked. Mother fucking greedy ass bitch of an ex-prime minister had to ruin the country. _________________ Carl Sagan - "It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring." |

Phew, I'm glad you said something about the unrest in Thailand. I made a post to you, Brian, asking if everyone you knew there was ok! _________________

1. haha glad j's doing good. I thought I was badass by eating my lunch in 15 minutes.
2. That has to be so frustrating for people to have that kind of crap getting in the way of the growth of the country. _________________ I'll throw my hot dog down your hallway! |

Yeah, the crazy stuff was pretty far away from my family. Its like if my family lived in Silver Spring and there were protests going down in DC.
1. Jason is a speed eater. Probably doesn't taste any of it.
2. Yeah, a lot of people who worked in the city gave the soldiers flowers and bought them fresh underwear for chasing the protesters out. Either way, the current administration is pretty fucked. They are now tainted with the bloody image of dead protesters. It will probably be compared to Tienanmen Square. _________________ Carl Sagan - "It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring." |
