Overview:
Set in the future the human race has advanced technology to spread beyond the planet earth to inhabit hundreds of planets across our universe. Inspired by a new "manifest destiny" humans have spread across the solar system colonizing new planets, drawing resources from new and unique ecosystems, and advancing the state of technology and sciences through interaction with other sentient races.
A gradual interbreeding of "traditional" earth nationalities as well as the advancement in transportation and communication technologies has instilled humans with a new sense of patriotism not to their country of origin but rather to the mega-corporation or "Oliglomerate" they work for.
To fully understand the current state of human society we must understand the complete and total way in which these Oliglomerates dominate the lives of all human beings within the still expanding human empire.
Oliglomerates
To label Oliglomerates, or Oligs for short, as simply mega-corporations wouldn't be doing them justice. While the Human Democratic Republic technically fills the role of a centralized government for the Empire true power is held by the Oligs which directly or indirectly control all aspects of human life.
Each Oliglomerate has a nearly absolute stranglehold on a specific area of society and often on several key resources which maintain their complete control over this area. Examples of more prominent Oligs includes Hermes Corp. which dominate intra and inter planetary communications, the Universal Matter Transmission Alliance, or UMTA, which controls the movement of physical goods through the Empire, and the One Bank a huge organization serving the banking needs of the entire empire.
Each of these Oligs and more will be explored later in this summary as we build out an understanding of the different factors in the daily lives of humans living within the empire.
It is also important to understand the scope of control that an Olig can exert on the daily lives of their "members." Most Oliglomerate "offices" are gigantic campuses which contain living and dining quarters, recreational facilities, commercial sectors, and even their own police and fire supression units. These campuses vary in size but the biggest span thousands of square miles. There are many low level "members," aka employees, that live their entire lives within the confines of the campus on which they are born.
While the control of Oligs over their specific domains is nearly ubiquitious there are certain areas which cross the domains of one or more Oligs. These areas are the primary grounds for competition between groups as each Olig strives to increase their influence over the Empire. The tactics employed to reach a specifics Olig's goals are nothing short of Machivellian. Corporate espionage, assasination, and sometimes even open warfare are typical methods through which "disputes" between various Oliglomerates are resolved.
Daily Life
Daily life can be very different depending on which Oliglomerate you belong to. This is primarily influenced by the fact that members of a specific oliglomerate have plentiful access to certain resources while restricted access to others (based on their Olig's domain of influence.) One example of this is that members of TERRA, the Olig which owns over 95% of the land within the empire, measure their wealth and influence through the trading of land rights, and even the least prosperous members have a few acres to their name. At the same time TERRA members struggle to acquire key pieces of technological infrastruture from other Oligs hording their intellectual property. _________________ Steady as she goes. |

| Downstairs, the doctor left three different medicines in different colored capsules with instructions for giving them dvd copy. One was to bring down the fever, another a purgative, dvd copy, the third to overcome an acid condition. The germs of influenza can only exist in an acid condition dvd ripper, he explained dvd burner. He seemed to know all about influenza and said there was nothing to worry about if the fever did not go above one hundred and four degrees dvd copy. This was a light epidemic of flu and there was no danger if you avoided pneumonia . |

can we make it an MMO where if you encounter somebody you engage in turn-based combat? (Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Wizardry style) That would probly be much easier...
